Psychology in "la Chile"

For this, my antepenultimate blog, I'll talk about my career in the University: psychology.
I'm in my third year right now, and I have been learning a lot of academic things and a few practical things too. So, let's talk about that.

First of all, I have to say that I love the curriculum of my university, because I had a lot of subjects that wasn't necessarily about psychology. For example, I had a sociology class, an anthropology class, and I even have a history class too. So I really appreciate that kind of classes, which allowed me to learn different points of view about social realities.
Besides, my curriculum is divided in two parts. In the first one we have all the basic subjects, and then we start to specialize in the areas we like. And I think that is a very good idea, even when you hate one or a few subjects, because they allow you to know all the possibilities that you have, before you decide where to go. So, that's why I think that the curriculum of psychology in Universidad de Chile is so great, and I wouldn't change anything of it.

About the duration of the career, I was very surprised when I find out that there are not five years of study (like the university informs your everywhere). They are six! That's because in the fifth year you have to do your thesis, your professional practice and your specialization course, so it's a little bit impossible to do that in one year, and almost everyone do those three things in the fifth and sixth year. But they should be more explicit with that information.

About the infrastructure, I think we have good spaces, to eat, to study and for the class, but they are not enough, because there are a lot of students and not so many classrooms, and that's a big problem.

However, there's a good use of technology, because almost every classroom has a projector, and I have had very good teachers in this three years. There are bad teachers too, of course, but I have had the opportunity to learn about the things I'm interested in, with very good teachers.

So, despites all the bad things, I really love my university and my career. I have been learning a lot, and I want to keep doing that for a while.

  1. I love that you see the glass half full, you're wonderful. I think one of the most beautiful things about the university is to find people like you. I love you <3

The best holidays I’ve had

My best holiday ever, without any doubt, was in my 2017 summer.  In the first days of January, my brother and I went to Cuba for ten days, and that was the most impressive trip I ever had until now. My father and my mother wanted to give us a trip a long time ago, but it was only possible this year because my brother award a scholarship for his first year at the university. I love my super clever bro <3 After that amazing trip full of learning about historical and political facts of that beautiful country, we returned to Santiago and I met with my friends and family to share what I saw there. And after that, I went to the south of our country, for about two months. When I finished the school, I lived for one year in a city named La Unión, in Región de Los  Ríos, so every summer since then, I return to visit the friends I made in that beautiful place. This summer, wasn't the exception.   I don't remember what I did first, but the fact is tha...

Pachamama "Pachi" Arrugas

Tomorrow tuesday, my dog will turn one week in my home. The family who taked care of her and her seven other brothers and sisters, called her Arrugas, but after two weeks of discussion, my family and I, decided to call her Pachi (from Pachamama). Pachi doesn't respond to her name yet, because she's two months old! But she doesn't cry when she's alone anymore, and that's a big progress, because the first night she cryed a lot.  It was very sad, actually, because if you think the fact that we separated her from her mom and we forced her to sleep alone and outside, without any doubt I would cry a lot too. So the second night I slept whit her, against the decision we made about it before she arrived my home. Anyway, she is the most beautiful creature I've ever had in my home and I think I'm falling in love with her. I really want that the veterinarian vaccinated Pachi, because only then I would take her out the house and go for a walk t...

Eanglish challenges

In this, my last post, and I'm going to talk about the english language challenges and my experience learning english at university. In school I had a good experience with this language because I had good teachers and good activities. I always remember that I had to do a video with my friends in the last three years of school, and that was a little bit stressful, but it was fun too. Here at university, I liked the blogs because I never did something like that before, and I find them a good way to learn to write and to explain our ideas. I think the second part of the class could be better because it wasn't fluid, but I think that's our fault because we were a little bit shy (maybe because we didn't have many classes) and we didn't enjoy talking in english with our partners. I think that a very good way to learn english is to talk and practice, but, I think we have to be more used to this language for that. We have to lose the fear to talk, to practice our pro...
